NARRATING PRISONS FROM LEBANON
A Conversation with Ali Abou Dehen
Via Zoom
SEP 1, 2022

The MPF is pleased to host a discussion with Lebanese activist and writer Ali Abou Dehen. Abou Dehen has written about his experience being detained in Syria for many years, as well as the experience of his fellow inmates in Syrian detention. He has also undertaken work to situate these personal experiences and encounters within the broader contexts both in the region and of carceral dynamics globally. By reflecting on his participation in regional conferences, contributions to artistic projects, and statements and conversations in the media, in this talk Abou Dehen will highlight how his narratives about detention have crossed from Lebanon to other countries in and out of the MENA region.

Time: Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 8 pm Beirut time.

Language: Arabic with English Translation.

The subsequent discussion will be both in Arabic and English.

Deadline for registration: Wednesday, August 31, 2022 by 12:00 Midnight Beirut time.
